Q.
What is the advantage of using an automatic feeder?
A. Not only
will it improve your horses health but it will help in preventing
colic, and stomach ulcers as well as some common bad behaviors such
as cribbing and pacing. A horse is designed to eat throughout the
day, when they are not able to do this, such as only eating large
meals twice a day, it can increase the risk of colic. Horses fed
smaller meals throughout the day and even night are healthier and
happier. You can actually feed less to your horse and improve its
health with an Automatic feeder. This will save you money.
The feeder
also will save you much time. Now instead of feeding having to be
there to feed your horse for each meal. You only need to load the
feeder once in while. This gives you more time to spend with your
horse, and for those that have to drive to feed their horse it will
also save them much gas money.
Q.
How much hay or grain will a feeder hold?
A. The large feeder will hold one square bale
of hay, or 5 - 50lb. bags of feed. The small feeder will hold about
4-6 flakes of hay (depending on the size of flakes), or 2 - 50lb
bags of feed.
Q.
How long will it feed my horse before reloading?
A. This depends on how many times and how much
your feed your horse. But typically the large feeder can feed
between 3-5 days for hay, and 4-6 weeks on grain (depending on how
many bags you have placed in the feeder also).
Q.
How hard is it to install?
A. The feeder is very easy to install. For
wall mounting brackets you simply screw the brackets into the wall,
then place the feeder ontop and screw the feed into the brackets.
For Free Standing brace, you
will need to get a 4x4 post and burry it in the ground (we suggest
putting this in cement for best stability) The you simply place the
feeder on top of the brace and screw it down.
Q.
Will I have to run many wires in my barn or pasture?
A. The units are self contained, for the
electrical units you can simply use an extension cord if there is an
outlet close by, or you can run power supply to the unit if you have
several in your barn. The unit does have a back up batter so if the
power goes out the feeder will continue to operate for up to 2
weeks.
For outdoor the solar unit
is completely self contained and will not need anything ran to it to
operate. It will continue to operate on cloudy, rainy, or snowy days
without any problems.
Q.
How difficult is the HayDelay feeder to use or load?
A. It is very easy to load. Just lift the lid
and set your bale of hay, or empty your bag of grain into the feeder
and then close the lid and set it back to Auto.
Q.
Will I need anything extra to install my feeder and use it?
A. For the wall mounting unit you will not
need anything extra. For the free Standing Brace you will have to
supply your own 4x4 post and cement if desired.
